wow- what a fun session we had with miss emily today- sure, it may have been more than a little overcast outside [a completely white sky..seriously, why wont winter end?!] but it was absolutely beautiful out in our private winter wonderland! while i am rather quick to complain about the cold, i am really falling in love with the snow portraits- and today, emily added so many more reasons why! from playing with the snow-barehanded and all...to some fantastic ice princess-esque images- to understate, the cold was well worth it!

of course we had a great time in the studio as well- letter jackets, fans, cowboy boots, etc. etc. etc. i can't wait to show all of her images, but for now..just a sneak peek! as always, click here for more images from this session!!

i love when our clients become friends.

and i love love love when our friends become our clients- to photograph a friend, and know that you get to document a special milestone in their life, to tell their story the way it should be told- not only does it leave me speechlessly honored but receiving the contact form always makes me so full of excitement-

receiving the e mail from alex was no different. i met alex my freshman year at drake university and loved her instantly. for lack of a better way to say it, i'm left to borrow from an overused cliche- but she truly has a magnetic personality. when i finally had a chance to meet her fiance, derek- it was no surprise that he was absolutely adorable and filled the room with the same "i have to know them" feeling. their personalities and their incredible interaction with each other really made it so fantastic to photograph their engagement - and has me so eagerly awaiting their may 14th wedding! congrats congrats congrats & be sure to keep your eyes open in may for what is sure to be quite an amazing celebration! [did i mention alex is a super talented artist- she was the photo editor at the drake magazine when i was there, so in addition to feeling honored and excited..add the anticipated nervousness of photographing a photographer :) ]

i had so much fun meeting miss jali for her senior portrait session!

not only did she have so many fun outfits [and some fun expressions...that she changed up completely on her own.. complete with winking and the whole bit :) ] but what a sweet and beautiful girl! oh, and did i mention talented?! quite the athlete this one is..we got some really fun images with her and her ten bazillion [possibly a slight exaggeration..] medals & ribbons from a number of different sports.

finally, in a pair of heels that i do not think i could even force my foot to try to go into..she left straight from her portrait session to finish getting ready and meet her friends for their WPA dance..what a fun day! :)

we met miss nina for her senior portraits a little over a wek ago- and what a beautiful girl! besides her stunning eyes and captivating smile, she was an absolute joy both to meet and to photograph. such a sweet heart and while i can't wait for her to view ALL of her images, i wanted to share a few with you- despite the freezing temperatures, i LOVE her outdoor images- wow talk about being comfortable in front of the camera:)

 what a fun (and sweet) guy ryan was to work with!

we photographed his older sister for her senior portraits- they are such a fun-loving and kind family- it was such a pleasure to work with them again! while ryan did a great job at striking the "serious" poses, i think it is safe to say a smile is much more natural for him! :)
